Pinellas digestBy Times staff reports© St. Petersburg Times published January 3, 2002 Learn the political ropes at boot campCLEARWATER -- Candidates considering a run for local, state or national office are invited to attend the Leadership Pinellas Political Candidates Boot Camp 2002 -- How to Run for Political Office seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Hampton Inn Clearwater. The program will cover topics such as campaign overview, fundraising, building a campaign and mechanics of running a campaign. Twelve candidates on the city, county and state level have participated in the Leadership Pinellas seminar and gone on to win. The goal is to give candidates, community leaders, campaign workers and volunteers a realistic look at the campaign process. Speakers include elected officials and professional political consultants. Leadership Pinellas is a nonpartisan organization. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 585-8889. The $50 registration fee includes breakfast and lunch catered by the Stuffed Mushroom. The fee is $40 for active Leadership Pinellas alumni. Palm Harbor Little League registration scheduledPALM HARBOR -- Palm Harbor Little League will take registration for the spring baseball season Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Palm Harbor Senior Activity Center, 1500 16th St. The program is open to boys 5 to 18 and girls 5 to 16. League age is determined by the age of the child as of July 31, 2002. The fees are $95 for T-ball and A divisions; $115 for AA, AAA and majors divisions; and $125 for juniors, seniors and big league divisions. All fees include a fundraising buyout. A birth certificate and proof of residence such as a utility or telephone bill are required at registration.
