LARGO - A registered sex offender was arrested Sunday on a charge he tried to break into the bedroom of a 15-year-old girl.

Anthony J. Lofrisco, 20, of 12293 Sailwinds Drive was arrested on a charge of attempted burglary. Largo police said the incident occurred about 4 a.m. March 17. According to an arrest report, the girl told officers Lofrisco had previously tried to start a relationship with her. She awoke that morning to find him trying to get into her bedroom after removing the screen to her window. She told him to leave and he did, the report states.

Lofrisco is registered as a sex offender because of an attempted rape offense in New York, records state. He is awaiting trial on an arrest last year for failing to register as a sex offender. Lofrisco was released from the Pinellas County Jail Sunday evening after posting $10,000 bail.
