Dade City man dies in house fireBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published December 24, 2000 RIDGE MANOR -- A 33-year-old Dade City man died early Saturday when fire consumed a Ridge Manor Boulevard home where he slept. The man, whose name was not being released pending positive identification by the medical examiner, was spending the night with Murray Matchett, a friend who owned the home, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said they were told that the man had driven his girlfriend's car to the house at 32314 Ridge Manor Blvd. after fighting with her. Matchett left to return the car keys to the girlfriend in Dade City, and when he got home at about 3 a.m., the house was in flames, said Deanna Dammer, Hernando Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
